WORKERS are leaving their cars at home today as they set off on foot for the office.
Now in its fifth year, the Pedestrian Council of Australia will hold Walk to Work Day today.

The idea is simple enough; leave your car at home and instead use a combination of walking and public transport.

Fronting the campaign this year is Australian track hero Matt Shirvington, who is hoping to raise awareness of the national event.

“I want everybody to know that walking can make a huge difference to their daily lives,” Matt said.
