CITY workers will swap shoes for sneakers tomorrow and walk to work to help save the environment and increase their fitness.
Staff from the Premier’s, Transport and Health departments will join workers from a range of city businesses participating in National Walk to Work Day.
Organised by the Pedestrian Council of Australia and the National Heart Foundation the day is designed to highlight walking as a healthy activity and increase use of public transport.
Organisers suggest people catch public transport to within walking distance of work, then walk the rest of the way.
The four objectives of the day are better health, cleaner air, less traffic and improved transport.
