THE game is up for the parking outlaws of Balmain. The Pedestrian Council of Australia is blowing the whistle on Paddy McGuinness and his cohorts at Leichhardt Council. With off-street parking in the area in the news - that's Balmain-speak for leaving the car on the footpath - local rag Pensinsula Precinct News reports that Councillor McGuinness, aided by former ALP Balmain branch president Damian Cobley-Finch, put out posters to warn residents when rangers scheduled a crackdown on footpath parking. The Pedestrian Council has sought legal advice from Mallesons Stephen Jaques, who say the council warning could be unlawful.
