Ice-cream anger

THE Royal Australasian College of Surgeons is demanding the withdrawal from sale of an ice-cream which it says promotes reckless driving among kids.

Chocolate flavoured "Burnouts" are being sold by Nestle to coincide with the hit Disney animation Cars.

The ice-cream is shaped like a car tyre on a stick.

The college's road trauma spokesman Dr Rob Atkinson said Nestle was giving the wrong message to children under 12. He said there were fines and even jail sentences in most Australian states for drivers caught doing burnouts.

Chairman of the Pedestrian Council of Australia Harold Scruby said Nestle representatives had told him that the "ritual" of doing burnouts was enjoyed by people who enjoy motor racing.
