Kids walk safely to school
CHRISTIES Beach Primary students donned their comfy walking shoes for dedicated Walk Safely to School Day today (Friday, May 18).
“We are expecting probably about 60 students to take part this year,” school counsellor Chrissa Connor says.
“It seems to go up by about 10 students each year.”
Now in its 13th year, the day is held nationally to promote road safety and health.
Mrs Connor says it is a great way to encourage families to get involved in their school community.
“We had about six parents walk along with us last year and even some prams with younger siblings taking part,” she says.
“It’s a great way to promote being active with a strong focus on wellbeing.
“But even just the social aspect of walking and talking together is always fun.
