WALK THIS WAY Step out and walk to school

School children from across the northwest will take part in Walk Safely to School day on Friday.

PRINCE of Peace Lutheran College is taking a stance to promote safe and active travel.

Staff at the Everton Hills school have encouraged students and their families to get involved in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday.

Development manager Sam Yarnold said the school had been involved in the program for two years.

She said it was a great opportunity to encourage families to look at alternative active ways to ease traffic congestion around the school.

"In the past, the majority of our Junior Campus families drove to school as most had too far to walk or cycle and we are surrounded by busy roads that are not safe to cross," she said.

She said now more than 50 per cent of families regularly walk or ride to school.

McDowall State School will also take part. ~ Visit
