Kids Walk Safely to School
PRIMARY school children will be out in force on foot tomorrow for the annual Walk Safely to School Day.
Now in its 12th year, the nationwide initiative will be celebrated by students across the region.
St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Sarina is getting on board, meeting at Anzac Park, Anzac Street at Sarina tomorrow at8.05am and 8.15am to walk to safely to school as a group.
“Walking is a great way to get active, and helps you feel happy and healthy,” Mackay Public Health Unit Health Promotion Officer Rhiannon Dooley said.
“Walking to school also helps kids stay focused in class – making learning easier.
“If your children can’t walk all the way to school, try parking the car further away from school and then walk the rest of the way with them.”
