EVERYONE is being urged to take the first steps towards a healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyle by taking part in the first national Walk to Work Day on Friday.
An initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia and co-sponsored by the National Heart Foundation, Walk to Work Day is designed to raise awareness of walking not only as a healthy activity, but as an important mode of transport.
Harold Scruby, chairman of PCA, said: ``By simply leaving the car at home, we can minimise the level of traffic on our roads and significantly reduce motor vehicle emissions.''
