Call for city limit

The Sunday Telegraph

Sunday 11 May 2003
THE Pedestrian Council of Australia has called on Sydney's Lord Mayor, Lucy Turnbull to declare the CBD a 40km/h zone.

Last year, more pedestrians than drivers were killed in the Sydney metropolitan area.

PCA chairman, Harold Scruby, said the limit would come into force in North Sydney CBD next week and Sydney CBD should follow suit.

He added that the PCA had been lobbying the City of Sydney over the issue for five years and that Darting Harbour and The Rocks, which adjoin the CBD, already had 40km/h limits.
