Walk To Work | Sign the Hero's Pledge

I hereby pledge that I will be a "Walking Class Hero" and participate in "National Walk to Work Day 2010".

Barring unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances, I pledge to leave my car at home on Friday 1 October 2010. I will catch public transport to within walking distance from my work and then walk the rest of the way. If public transport is not an option I pledge to leave my car at least a kilometre away from work and walk the remaining distance. Otherwise I will walk for at least half an hour during lunch-time and encourage my fellow employees to do likewise. I also pledge to actively encourage my friends and colleagues to take part in the event and to support the objectives of National Walk to Work which are:

To promote regular walking as a healthy activity (better physical, mental & social health)
To reduce the reliance on the private motor vehicle (reduce car-dependency)
To promote and improve the use of public transport (less traffic)
To improve air quality by reducing unnecessary vehicle emissions (reduce global warming)

I also pledge, that I will encourage my employer to complete the Corporate Ambassador's Pledge and also to "Host a Healthy Breakfast" for all employees who take part in the event.
