Wilton Public School students took care on Walk Safely to School Day

Wilton Public School students took care on Walk Safely to School Day
WILTON Public School students gave the car the thumbs down and laced up their walking shoes recently for annual Walk Safely To School Day.

Held throughout Australia on May 18, Walk Safely To School Day encouraged parents and carers to walk children to school to promote safe pedestrian behaviour and the healthy benefits of exercise.

Wilton students met their principal Debra Gray at the corner of Hornby St and Oxby Ave on the day and joined the 'walking school bus' as it passed by their homes at Bingara Gorge.

When they arrived, Bingara Gorge LendLease staff treated the students to a healthy breakfast, which included cereal, fruit and juice. Ms Gray said the school was committed to teaching students about healthy and safe living. "At Wilton Public School we are always looking for innovative ways to teach our students about health and safety," she said.

"The event allows us to take learning outside and have some fun at the same time."
