Rangeville students walk the walk

RANGEVILLE State School students put their best foot forward this morning and made the trek to school.

About one third of the school's students took part in National Walk to School Day.

Four groups met at various points around Rangeville and walked to school together.

The school's Walk to School co-ordinator, Heather McCarthy, said it encouraged the children to "get moving".

"The aim is to get kids healthier and to reduce the converging of cars outside the school," she said.

Mrs McCarthy said the initiative was linked to the Travel Smart program which encouraged students to walk, ride, and get a bus or carpool.

"There are lots of incentives for the kids to get moving," she said.
