Walk to Work Day
Friday 4 October 2019
Parents, students and schools on the Mid North Coast are being encouraged to join in and participate in Walk Safely to School Day to be held on Friday, May 18.

NSW Deputy Premierand Oxley MP, Andrew Stoner, said the day was aimed at promoting the importance of regular and active physical activity as well as raising awareness for pedestrian and road safety.

"This day also draws attention to the hazards caused by traffic congestion around schools and the importance of educating children about road safety rules," Mr Stoner said.

"Walk Safely to School Day is a great initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia.

"While it is not possible for all children to walk long distances to school in country areas, parking the car 15 minutes away from the school so that parents can enjoy a walk with their kids is one way that you can join in.
